Early 19th Century Inlaid Mahogany Box with Marquetry Detail, English Circa 1820. An exquisite example of English craftsmanship, this Georgian period handmade box is executed in a rich mahogany and detailed throughout with geometric marquetry work. Top of box is framed in a beautiful greek key and chevron pattern with contrasting olive, ebony and satinwood with original brass escutcheon resting on a bracketed base. Interior of box opens to a large compartment made to house an array of items with intricate five point inlaid star to underside of lid. Small losses have occurred to front right and left sides of box, pictured within.
