George Jones Majolica Pitcher, English, ca. 1875, with high relief-molded trompe l'oeil white orchids, with stems and leaves glazed in various shades of green, on a simulated mossy, watery bark ground, the handle formed by orchid leaves; the reverse with British Registry Lozenge for 17 March 1875, and painted design number'3439,' which corresponds to the entry, 'Flowered Jug,' in the George Jones Majolica Pattern Books preserved in the Wedgwood Archive and reprinted in V. Bergesen.*
