18th Century Chinese Canton Famille Rose Plate, circa 1780s

$0.00

18th century Chinese Canton Famille rose 9.6 inch plate, circa 1780s, enameled with seven figures, the four males forming a band, one playing the erhu, one playing symbols, one playing the dizi (bamboo flute), and the seated figure playing the guzheng (plucked zither), with three Geshas in attendance, one holding a lotus blossom, the other a fan, and the third possibly singing. The precious objects depicted on the boarder include a censer (insense burner), bundled books, a sheathed dagger, and a highly rare blue and white open map, with two other rolled maps, indicating that they are probably minstrels. Condition, very small spot to rim professionally restored (see photos). Completely stable with no hairlines or other damage or restoration. Will ship worldwide. Continental U.S. free shipping.
