Highly exceptional and extremely rare Qing Dynasty Famille Rose Mandarin Polychrome Enameled Plate 10-in, ca. 1820. The scene with six figures on a barge at water's edge among stacked oyster traps, the standing adult figures bent intently on a single pearl held by a crouched lady, the standing bejeweled lady pointing to the infant on her back, and a cross-legged pearl-diver staring at the water, the background with green-glazed palms and an evening sky glazed in shades of pink and violet, the wide border with a continuous band of eight dragons Chasing the Flaming Pearl, with bands of smoke-rings formed by swirls of coordinating glazes. Decorated in Jingdezhen during the first quarter of the nineteenth century and made for export to the West, it is beautifully painted, with intricate gilt-work, the Western or "foreign" glaze colors are rare and diverse.
