Copeland Majolica Classical Elgin Pedestal on Cobalt Ground, English, ca. 1875
W. T. Copeland & Sons Majolica, the column-form pedestal molded in high relief with Classical figures including Diana the Huntress wielding a sword, with floral garlands tied with pink glazed ribbons to the top and base, on a cobalt blue glazed ground, the reverse with three impressed maker's marks, 'COPELAND.' The design is listed in the W. T. Copeland Majolica Shapes Books (1869-1879) as 'Elgin Pillar or Seat.' *
Perfect as a side table.
