A George Jones Majolica Oyster Dish, the central shell molded in high relief and glazed in pink-tinged white, on a round mound of naturalistically molded and white-glazed scallop shells, with six open scallop shells with fluted and scalloped wells glazed in turquoise, separated by spokes formed by relief-molded auger shells glazed in yellow ochre, with green and brown glazed seaweed and terminating in conforming white-glazed scallop shells; the reverse glazed in brown and green tortoiseshell mottling, with impressed marks: 'GJ' monogram with '& Sons' within a crescent moon below (for Crescent Potteries), with painted design number to the thumbprint reserve, '3589,' English, ca. 1875.
